Can I convert a serial port to a USB port or can I install a USB port on my computer? I have a newer printer that requires a USB port and I only have serial ports.

Are you sure? I find it hard to believe that any machine made in the past five years would be without USB.

Right click on "My Computer", click manage, on the left screen click Devise Manager, then look at the right screen. What you are looking for is "Universal Serial Bus Controllers". Hit the plus sign next to it and see what is below.
