Using Windows Explorer, open the Temp folder in the
C:\Windows folder. Look at the dates on any files in that
folder. If the dates are older than the last time you
started your computer, you can safely delete them. Don't
delete any file in the Temp folder that has today's date
on it, unless you recognize the file.

How do I find these dates? I don't see any dates.

Tressie:

To view the dates, here is what to do. First, open Windows explorer. Go to the TEMP directory in c:\windows. At the top of the window, click on the "view" button, then select Details. This will put all the files in a list, with the dates to the right of the page, you may have to scroll at the bottom to see them.

To fix it back, just click view, and select the option you had it set on before.

Before deleting any TEMP files, reboot your computer first to make sure that none of them are being used.

Delete everything that appears under:

c:\windows\temp

c:\temp

*.tmp
