You hit the nail on the head. Your CD-rom drive is used for just what you said. Installing programs and listening to music. Sometimes, programs must have the cd in the drive to run.
And, for people who have cd writer drives, sometimes they can send you data on a cd. Cd's hold about the same size as 600 floppies.

In "My Computer" there is 'Floppy A Drive', 'Local Disk C', Compact Disc D' & Ctrl Panel. My question is: What else can you use the Compact Disc. D for, other than listening to CD's and for installing stuff using a CD?
